SEArica online Conference on the Black Sea: How can regional frameworks foster sustainable blue growth in the Black Sea basin?
On Thursday, December 3, 2020, the 1st Black Sea Conference on “How Regional Frameworks Can Promote Sustainable Blue Growth in the Black Sea Basin?” organized in partnership with The Seas, Rivers, Islands, and Coastal Areas (SEArica) Intergroup, the International Centre for Black Sea Studies (ICBSS) and the Balkan and the Black Sea Commission of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (BBSC CPMR).
The event aimed to present the political and scientific framework for the Black Sea and to discuss with key stakeholders how the EU can respond to the needs of the main sectors contributing to the blue economy in the Black Sea region. Among the key objectives of the conference was to provide a platform for dialogue between the EU, national policymakers, and key regional stakeholders to foster a better understanding of the purpose of key EU strategies focused on the blue economy in the region. It also encouraged regional stakeholders to actively participate in the successful implementation of the objectives of these frameworks and, more importantly, to highlight their perspectives on the Black Sea region.
At the SEArica Conference, where great discussions took place, Black Sea CONNECT was represented by the Coordinator Baris Salihoglu and Russian Black Sea Young Ambassador Evgenia Kostyanaya. While Baris Salihoglu analyzed the Black Sea Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), Russian Black Sea Young Ambassador Evgenia Kostyanaya represented the youth in the debate with key regional stakeholders on blue economy priorities.
