Boosting Early Education with SciLabs in Kindergartens

In a significant stride towards enhancing education at the pre-university level, a groundbreaking partnership between BSUN and the Constanța County School Inspectorate has been forged. The primary objective of this collaboration is to bolster education in areas pivotal to the future of learning, namely STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), the sustainable blue economy, and the promotion of interethnic cultural exchange. This concerted effort has manifested in a series of engaging activities, including enriching workshops and enlightening outreach events, meticulously designed for kindergarten students. Moreover, to assess the situation in schools, workshops with teachers on the three themes, courses, seminars, and a series of pilot projects were carried out.

Workshops have emerged as an essential cornerstone of this initiative. On November 23rd, 2022, a significant workshop titled “Promoting the Concept of Blue Growth in Early Education” was expertly curated. Eminent academics, including Dan Shechtman and Enrico Sciubba from the University of Rome, took center stage to share their insights on the motivation behind and the methodologies for organizing effective science education. The beneficiaries of this knowledge were educators from the extensive network of the Constanța County School Inspectorate, serving within the preschool system.

Furthermore, this ambitious endeavor reached its zenith with outreach activities held in Constanta and Haifa on March 3rd, 2023. Employing cutting-edge technology, video, and audio connections facilitated seamless interaction among participants. In Constanta, Kindergarten no. 58 orchestrated an open lesson, orchestrated by a proficient team from the renowned “Grigore Antipa” Museum of Bucharest. This session was meticulously tailored for the kindergarten teachers hailing from Constanța County. Parallelly, Haifa witnessed a captivating open lesson within a specially dedicated laboratory, catering to the unique needs of kindergarten children, at a carefully selected kindergarten endorsed by the City Hall.

The partnership between BSUN and the Constanța County School Inspectorate stands as a testament to the commitment to nurturing young minds and fostering a passion for learning from the very outset of education. This collaborative effort not only sets the stage for a transformative educational experience but also underscores the critical role that interactive and engaging learning plays in laying the foundation for a brighter future.
